Demetra amphorae are born from the desire to create wine vases that preserve the romanticism of the shape of these containers and that combine the innovation that has taken place in the ceramic sector over the years.
The passion for wine and the in-depth knowledge of the processing of the ceramic material led us to enter a completely new sector for us. There was no lack of collaboration with ceramic technicians and winemakers and after several tests we managed to find the dough that suited our idea of an amphora.
The mix of Demetra amphorae is obtained by mixing clay and chamotte (cooked and crushed ceramic). The addition of chamotte gives greater structure and resistance to the amphora . The color of our amphorae is white because it is free of iron oxide . The cooking temperature takes place at 1050 ° C, therefore there is a micro porosity slightly lower than that of wood.
